Two Silver Foxes: The Art of Lois Condon and Carol Jenkins
Exhibit at the West Orange Arts Center

The community is invited to meet the artists and explore their works at a free Artist’s Reception on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 4–7 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. Later in the month, there will be a Free Collage Workshop on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1-3 pm. RSVP is encouraged but not required. The exhibit will be on view from January 5 through February 1, 2025. Gallery hours are Saturdays from 1-4 pm and Sundays from 2-4 pm.

West Orange’s Lois Condon’s watercolor and ink paintings beautifully capture the natural world, blending intricate detail with soft, expressive strokes. From serene landscapes to captivating animals, each piece conveys a sense of personality and life, as if the essence of the subject shines through the lines.

Carol T. Jenkins has been a professional graphic designer for over 45 years and has produced creative award-winning designs for corporations, small businesses, and government agencies throughout New Jersey. A civic-minded entrepreneur, Jenkins formed the Read-Up! Book Club for children in 1999 as an educational initiative of the United Way Community Service Council of the Oranges to encourage children to actively participate in organized reading, learning, and social activities.

Eight years ago, Jenkins started collaging and producing three-dimensional artwork using non-traditional materials. Her works often feature historical figures from society, music, and art augmented with intricate backgrounds, thoughtful details, and a carefully curated palette of complementing colors. The result is a harmonious blend of complexity and beauty, offering a fresh perspective on iconic subjects.

Both artists hold leadership board positions at WOAC and are very active volunteers. Jenkins (Secretary) and Condon (Vice-Chair) are also multiyear Award-winning Essex County Senior Artists of Distinction.

The WOAC is also accepting pop-up exhibit proposals for shows in 2025. The pop-up concept, with 2-4 artists participating in a 3-week show, designed as a collaborative quick way to highlight local artists and support the WOAC mission to foster connections through the arts. “Arts organizations like ours thrive through the support of our community, with opportunities to come together, celebrate creativity, support each other, and inspire involvement in the arts,” said Patricia Mitrano, WOAC Chair.

This show follows the success of the fall’s pop-up exhibits with artist’s receptions, artist talks, workshops, and a performance that drew a standing-room-only crowd. Highlights from the shows are available hereClick here to contact
