New Art Show Draws a Good Crowd for Artwork by Lois Condon and Carol Jenkins

Exhibit: Jan. 5 – Feb. 1, 2025
Opening Reception: Sat. Jan. 11 from 4-7 p.m.
Collage Workshop: Sat. Jan. 25 from 1-3 p.m.

The Two Silver Foxes art exhibit kicked off its local art reception at the West Orange Arts Center on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Over 65 guests were in attendance at this new art show opening presenting artwork by Lois Condon and Carol Jenkins. Both NJ artists were present to interact and discuss art and their methodology. The reception also enjoyed a visit from the West Orange, NJ mayor, Susan McCartney, who has been an avid supporter of the local arts for many years.

Two Silver Foxes: The Art of Lois Condon and Carol Jenkins
Exhibit at the West Orange Arts Center

Featuring paintings and mixed media art, Two Silver Foxes brings together the visual arts of two very different local artists. Carol Jenkins explained her love and patience for collage artwork, which ranged from portraits to abstract pieces. Lois Condon highlighted her paintings about various landscapes and nature, including color blending styles that captured both classical and contemporary painting methods. As women artists from NJ, Condon and Jenkins have also been dedicated volunteers with the West Orange Arts Center as Board members, expanding the opportunities and exposure for other local artists in New Jersey. 

Patricia Mitrano, Chair of the West Orange Arts Council, was happy to greet guests & organize a photo opportunity for the two artists. Giving them each a bouquet of flowers, Mitrano pointed out the uniqueness of these art pieces & how important is to all communities. She went on to announce upcoming events, including the West Orange Classic Film Festival that is currently happening now. 

The West Orange Arts Center was also open with its wonderful gift shop, managed by Liana Torrice. Featuring the artwork, books, and crafts of many members and local artists.The gift shop is open on weekends for the public to browse one-of-a-kind. handmade art gifts.In addition, all of the artwork from the exhibit was also available for sale that day. 

The exhibit is open through February 1, 2025. There is still time to view and enjoy Lois Condon and Carol Jenkins artwork by visiting the Two Silver Foxes exhibit. The West Orange Arts Council is also accepting pop-up exhibit proposals for shows in 2025. The pop-up concept features 2-4 artists participating in a 3-week show. The collaborative idea is a quick way to highlight local artists and support the West Orange Arts Council mission to foster connections in the art community. “Arts organizations like ours thrive through our community, with opportunities to come together, celebrate creativity, collaborate with each other, and inspire involvement in the arts,” said Patricia Mitrano, West Orange Arts Council Chair.
