The West Orange Arts Council (WOAC) presents “UNTITLED Small Works,” a new exhibition showcasing big talent on a small scale with 23 talented local artists. This art show will run from April 13 to May 18 at the West Orange Arts Center and Gift Shoppe at 551 Valley Road, in West Orange, NJ.
This exhibit features the work of 23 Artists: Kim Alexander-Cook, George Anderson, Luis Alves, Andrei Averbuch, Balkrishna, Tina Burk, Mary Byrnes, Jeanette Centeno, Colleen Creedon, Maria Estrela, Mary Franklin, Sue Greenwald, Hugh Mahon, Kathleen Heron, Liem Hoang, Carol T. Jenkins, Theodore Jenkins, Aron Lifschultz, Sylvia Padilla, John Piccoli, Linda Strobert, Denise Toney, and Tasha Williams. Each artists contributes their creativity and skill to their artworks.
The show, installed by West Orange Arts Center Gallery Manager Rey Arvelo with help from artists Theodore Jenkins and Aron Lifschultz, opened on Saturday, April 13, 2024, and runs through May 18, 2024, with an Artist’s Reception on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 1-4pm. Exhibit hours are Saturdays from Noon – 4pm and by appointment.
“This exhibit illustrates how art can inspire and celebrate the beautiful,” said Patricia Mitrano, chair of the West Orange Arts Council. “Our artist reception is a great way to bring people together, support our local artists and encourage others to get involved in the arts. Arts organizations like West Orange Arts Council would not exist without the support we receive from our community.”
Come see work like George Anderson’s abstract expressions of a male artist with Autism and ADHD in the 21st century, Jeanette Centano’s creations of the raw emotion of art and music, Sylvia Padilla’s, with past pre-Columbian icons from her Taino and Inca heritage, Kathleen Heron’s found objects assemblages are surreal tableaux depicting imagined humans, Carol T. Jenkins’ graphic design inspired collages, Hugh Mahon’s conceptual works with found and recycled sculpture, collage and assemblage, Tina Burks clay creations, nerikomi, the inlay of designs on colored porcelains, Susan Greenwald’s delightful nature inspired monochromatic and full color palettes, Denise Toney’s fiber art collages with imported textiles and quilter’s cotton, and the meticulous and passionate paintings of Balkrishna.
There are also unique creations by over twenty local artisans in our fully stocked Gift Shop, open Saturdays from Noon – 4pm and by appointment.
