Celebrating Mother Nature and All Mothers

WEST ORANGE, NJ (April 20, 2023) – The West Orange Arts Council (WOAC) presents “Mother Earth,” a new art exhibition that explores the natural world through the eyes of twenty talented local artists.
The exhibit will run from April 22, 2023, to May 27, 2023, at the West Orange Arts Center, 551 Valley Road, West Orange, New Jersey. WOAC Gallery and Gift Shop hours are Saturdays from 11am-4pm, Sundays from Noon-3pm and by appointment. The community is invited to an artists’ reception on Saturday, April 29 from 1-4 pm.
Participating artists include Judyann Affronti, Peter Astor, Josie Barreiro, Cathleen McCoy Bristol, Andrew Burger, Mary Byrnes, Lois Condon, Antoinette Ellis-Williams, Maria Estrela, Mary Franklin, Carol T. Jenkins, Joanne Leone, Patricia Mallory-Miah, Booey McBooerson, Ameerah Shabazz-Bilal, Patricia Mitrano, Mansa K. Mussa, Sylvia Padilla, Amy Durschlag, and Denise Toney. Each artist brings a unique perspective and style to the exhibit, resulting in a diverse and captivating collection.
“The artists have created stunning pieces that can inspire viewers to appreciate our planet and remind us of its beauty,” states Patricia Mitrano, WOAC Board Chair. “Several havedepicted the essence of the powerful bond between mothers and their children, interpreting expressions of this cherished relationship.”
Exhibit dates fall withing Earth Day, Arbor Day and Mother’s Day and related activities at the West Orange Arts Center are being planned. Those wishing to participate in the planning or sponsoring an event are encouraged to contact WOAC with your ideas.
The West Orange Arts Council mission is to cultivate, inspire, and support the arts in West Orange.
